Star of The Shining, Shelley Duvall, passes away at 75
American actress and star of Stanley Kubrick's horror The Shining, Shelley Duvall, has died at the age of 75, informs The Hollywood Reporter.
The BAFTA and Emmy nominee died on July 11 at her home in Blanco, Texas. This was revealed by the actress's 65-year-old partner, screenwriter Dan Gilroy.

He noted that death resulted from complications of diabetes. He also added that Duvall passed away quietly, in her sleep.
"My dear, sweet, wonderful life partner and friend left us. Too much suffering lately, now she’s free. Fly away, beautiful Shelley," said Dan.

Shelley Duvall is an American actress known for her roles in the movies The Shining, Annie Hall, Nashville, and Popeye. She acted from 1970 to the early 2000s and then returned to the screen in 2022 in the movie The Forest Hills.

Shelley once said that she decided to leave show business because people in Hollywood insulted her. It is known that director Stanley Kubrick specifically treated Duvall harshly on the set of The Shining. He criticized the actress and asked others to do the same, hoping it would affect her performance.
Her partner noted that the actress was paranoid for a significant part of her life and was constantly afraid of something. He added that this led to obsessive thoughts that she was being persecuted.
