The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has exposed and detained a Russian informant in the Lviv region who was passing the Russian troops the coordinates of operational airfields with Ukrainian Armed Forces combat helicopters, the press service of SBU reports.

Case details

According to the investigation, the 38-year-old local female resident, unemployed, was recruited through a Telegram channel offering "easy money."

The traitor carried out the enemy's tasks - locating airfields used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces' army aviation.

The informant installed concealed video cameras near the airfields, equipped with additional power sources and remote access, so that the Russians could monitor the presence and movement of combat helicopters.

The SBU caught the woman in the act as she was attempting to set up another video camera.

Military counterintelligence eliminated the spy devices and carried out special measures to protect defense facilities.

What she faces

During the search, a smartphone containing evidence of criminal activity was seized. The woman has been announced a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorized dissemination of information about the movement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine under martial law).

The suspect is being held in custody without the right to bail. She faces up to 8 years in prison.

Exposing Russian agents preparing strikes on Ukraine

Earlier, on August 6, a Russian intelligence agent was detained who had been collecting data on Ukrainian Armed Forces positions in the Pokrovsk sector to prepare an enemy offensive using aerial bombs and artillery.

The SBU also reported detaining a 45-year-old resident of Mykolaiv who, according to the investigation, was adjusting Russia's missile-and-drone strikes on the city. The detainee maintained contact with Serhii Lebedev, known by the nickname Lokhmatyi.

In addition, the Security Service of Ukraine previously exposed a spy who was preparing a Russian attack on Ukraine's Neptune coastal missile systems. He was also supposed to adjust enemy strikes on Ukrainian Armed Forces training centers.
