Speaker Johnson predicts how Trump could end Russia's war against Ukraine
Donald Trump, if elected as US President, could end Russia's war against Ukraine with a phone call, Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, stated.
"I have a lot of confidence in President Trump being able to end that conflict because he will project strength. We maintain peace through strength. We have not had that in the three and a half years of the Biden Administration. It's been exactly the opposite," he said.
Johnson recalled Trump's statement that Russia did not invade Ukraine during his administration. "We did not have the conflict in Israel, the war in Israel as we have, because Iran has been empowered under Biden. We did not have China acting so provocatively, as they are right now, around the world," he said.
"President Trump has the ability to pick up the phone call and make threats and demands of adversaries around the world that they pay attention to, because they fear him in some ways. There's real value in that," Johnson explained.
Trump's statements
Trump has repeatedly claimed that if elected president, he could stop Russia's war against Ukraine. Last week, he said he could end any war with a phone call.
Regarding Trump's statement, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that everyone would be delighted if the war could be ended so quickly – "but the question is at what cost – and who will pay it." In his view, Ukraine would have to pay with its territory, and thus, Ukraine would never agree to this.
