Speaker Johnson may cancel meeting with Zelenskyy in Congress
US House Speaker Mike Johnson's meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may not take place on September 26, when he arrives in Washington for meetings with President Joe Biden and members of Congress, Voice of America reports.
When asked whether he planned to meet Zelenskyy in Congress and what his expectations were from this meeting, Johnson said he was not sure whether he would stay in Washington because Congress's plans had changed.
Johnson says that he does not think they will be in town on Thursday, as the schedule of their meetings changed and everything is very fluid. He explains that a hurricane was coming to the Gulf Coast, causing many people to travel or return home, so he is not sure yet
Earlier, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said that changes have come to the Congressional schedule - the last votes this week and this month in Congress are scheduled for Wednesday, and after that, congressmen and senators will go to their districts due to the weather.
On September 26, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy was to meet with lawmakers from the Democratic and Republican parties during a visit to the US Capitol.
Zelenskyy is also scheduled to meet with US President Joe Biden at the White House on September 26.
