Spain responds to Trump's call to expel it from NATO

Spain has responded to US President Donald Trump’s statement suggesting the possibility of excluding the country from NATO due to insufficient defense spending, according to The Guardian.
Spain rejected the proposal by US President Donald Trump to exclude it from NATO over its failure to meet his increased defense spending targets.
Sources in the Spanish government stated that Spain is a committed and full-fledged member of NATO, meeting its capability goals just as the United States does.
It should be recalled that the US President suggested that NATO consider excluding Spain from the alliance over a dispute over the Western European country’s lag in military expenditures.
It is worth noting that yesterday, Trump met with Finnish President Alexander Stubb, and the two spoke to the press together.
During the conversation, Trump declared his readiness to defend Finland in the event of a Russian attack and suggested that Spain might need to be excluded from NATO.
It should also be noted that a few weeks ago, President Trump stated that NATO countries should shoot down Russian aircraft violating the airspace of Alliance members.
This was his reaction to an incident on September 19, when three Russian MiG-31 aircraft violated Estonian airspace and remained there for 12 minutes.
