Geomagnetic storms between August 4 and 8 may negatively affect the well-being of weather-sensitive people. According to scientific observatories and space forecasts, this period is expected to see increased geomagnetic activity.

Magnetic storm forecast

According to NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) and the Laboratory of Solar X-ray Astronomy, the following changes are expected:

August 4, Monday: A geomagnetic storm of G1 level is forecasted, with activity rising to Kp index 5 in the second half of the day.

August 5, Tuesday: Activity will decrease to a Kp level of 3–4. The storm will subside, leaving only moderate instability in the magnetic field.

August 6, Wednesday: Geomagnetic conditions will remain calm, with activity holding at Kp 3.

August 7, Thursday: A renewed increase in activity is likely, reaching Kp 5, indicating another G1-level magnetic storm.

August 8, Friday: Geomagnetic activity will gradually normalize, decreasing to a Kp index of 4.

The most intense periods are expected on the evening of August 4 and during the day on August 7, when people may feel the magnetic storms most strongly.

What is a magnetic storm?

A magnetic storm is a disturbance in the Earth’s magnetic field caused by solar flares. During a storm, charged particles reach the planet and disrupt field stability. This can affect not only technology, communication, and navigation systems but also human health.

G1-level storms (Kp 5) are considered moderate but may cause discomfort for weather-sensitive individuals, especially those with cardiovascular conditions, blood pressure issues, heightened nervous sensitivity, or chronic fatigue.

How magnetic storms affect well-being

During periods of geomagnetic activity, people may experience:

  • Headaches, dizziness
  • Blood pressure fluctuations
  • Chest pain, heart palpitations
  • Daytime drowsiness or nighttime insomnia
  • Fatigue, weakness, reduced concentration
  • Anxiety, irritability, apathy

Elderly people, pregnant women, children, and those prone to anxiety or panic disorders should be especially cautious.

How to protect your health during magnetic storms

Experts recommend maintaining balance and minimizing stress:

  • Stick to a regular sleep schedule, and go to bed before 11 PM.
  • Drink plenty of clean water, avoid alcohol and coffee
  • Eat light meals rich in vitamins and minerals
  • Ventilate your home and take walks in fresh air
  • Limit news consumption and screen time before bed
  • Avoid physical and emotional overload
  • Keep necessary medications on hand and monitor your blood pressure and pulse

If your health condition worsens significantly, consult a doctor. Even a mild magnetic storm can trigger chronic conditions if symptoms are ignored.
