South Korea transfers batch of demining vehicles to Ukraine
The Government of South Korea has transferred a batch of specialized demining equipment to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, according to the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Korea.
"To meet Ukraine’s needs for demining equipment, the Government of the Republic of Korea, with the assistance of the Embassy, handed over 10 demining machines manufactured by the Croatian company «DOK-ING» to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine as humanitarian assistance," the statement reads.
The demining equipment has already arrived at its destination point, where it will be distributed among the units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine involved in the humanitarian demining process of the de-occupied territories. Ukraine expressed gratitude to the government of South Korea for the provided equipment and hopes for further support.
Demining in Ukraine
Due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and active hostilities, the country is contaminated with explosive hazards. Some analysts consider Ukraine the most heavily mined country in the world.
In late September, Switzerland approved a package of $110 million for Ukraine's demining efforts, to be provided from 2024 to 2027.
It was also previously reported that Norway announced financial assistance for Ukraine's demining efforts, totaling $18.5 million.
