Ukraine-Russia talks
The second round of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia took place in Istanbul today, June 2. The Russian delegation was supposed to bring a memorandum on its vision of a ceasefire and an end to the war.
The first round of negotiations took place on May 16. Then the parties agreed to exchange prisoners in the 1,000-for-1,000 format.
The swap took place between May 23 and 25. The parties exchanged not only military personnel but also civilians. Ukraine extradited collaborators to Russia.
During the negotiations on May 16, the sides did not agree on a ceasefire for at least 30 days. Russia continued to resist such an idea, arguing that a ceasefire would supposedly strengthen Ukraine.
