There are people within Russian President Vladimir Putin's inner circle who support Ukraine's goal of bringing the war to an end, stated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his evening address.

Zelenskyy said Russia's fuel crisis is worsening as Ukraine continues its long-range strikes, describing the attacks as Ukraine's response to Putin's refusal to end the war.

"We have put forward proposals on how to bring peace closer. We have support for peace not only among our global partners but also within Putin’s inner circle. They understand what is happening and that there is no alternative to peace," Zelenskyy emphasized.

He added that this sentiment regarding the necessity of peace will only grow within Russia.

The President also noted that Ukraine's long-range strikes have reached several regions inside Russia, as well as military targets in Russian-occupied areas of Ukraine.

A fast way to peace

According to Reuters sources, advisers to Russian President Vladimir Putin had proposed ending the war along the current front line. However, the Kremlin leader rejected the idea because he still wants to seize the entire Donbas region.

Zelenskyy has previously said that freezing the front line would be the fastest way to achieve peace with Russia.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has also argued that Kyiv's proposal for ending the war is a realistic option for Putin.

According to Sybiha, the proposal gives the Kremlin a chance to avoid the collapse of its regime.
