Some European leaders have made it clear to Kyiv that they would prefer to see a restoration of ties between the United States and Ukraine, according to Euractiv.

According to the agency, Western allies of Ukraine are gradually moving toward a "coalition of willing" with a new peace plan led by London and Paris. However, they lack a strong voice to lead these efforts and are reluctant to move forward without the United States.

According to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, a "number of countries" want to join the "coalition of willing" to offer Ukraine security guarantees in the event of a ceasefire agreement.

Euractiv notes that Britain and France will lead in developing a peace plan, which will then be presented to US President Donald Trump. Italy, in turn, is expected to act as a "bridge-builder" in the process.

"But despite pledges of support for Ukraine, some European leaders have signaled to Kyiv that they would rather see them repair their ties with Washington than move on completely without the US," the agency adds.

Trump and Zelenskyy clash

On February 28, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the United States. During a conference with US President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance, a heated dispute arose between the leaders.

For more details on this, read the RBC-Ukraine report.

Additionally, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently accused Zelenskyy of "undermining efforts" toward peace negotiations.
