Magnetic storms in the second half of July may cause significant discomfort for people sensitive to weather. From July 21 to 25, several days of increased geomagnetic activity are expected. When will the peak of the magnetic storm occur, and how can we lessen its impact on well-being?

Magnetic storm schedule from July 21 to 25

According to laboratories in various parts of the world, the strongest geomagnetic fluctuations are forecast on the following days:

  • July 21: moderate storm (G1 level, Kp index 4-5)
  • July 22: red-level magnetic storm (Kp 5, possible short-term deterioration in well-being)
  • July 23: peak activity (G2 level storm, Kp up to 6)
  • July 24: decline in activity, moderate magnetic storm (Kp 4)
  • July 25: activity rises again, red-level magnetic storm (Kp 5)

The greatest impact is expected overnight from July 22 to 23.

What is a magnetic storm

Geomagnetic storms occur due to coronal mass ejections from the Sun, which reach Earth within 1-3 days. In July, solar surface activity is elevated, as the number of sunspots and flares has increased, causing a series of storms.

The Sun is currently in the peak activity phase of its 11-year cycle, which will continue until mid-2025. Therefore, magnetic storms will be frequent at the end of the year.

How storms affect the body

Magnetic storms can impact both physical and emotional well-being. Those most sensitive to changes include:

  • people with cardiovascular diseases
  • patients with vegetative-vascular dystonia
  • people with chronic fatigue and sleep disorders
  • pregnant women

Possible symptoms include:

  • headache
  • high blood pressure or tachycardia
  • apathy or irritability
  • insomnia or drowsiness
  • general feeling of being unwell

What to do to ease symptoms

To get through the period of magnetic storms with minimal discomfort, follow these simple tips:

  • limit physical activity on peak days
  • drink more water, avoid alcohol and coffee
  • avoid heavy food and overeating
  • go to bed on time, preferably by 11:00 PM
  • reduce gadget use before bedtime
  • spend time outdoors in the first half of the day
  • avoid conflicts and emotional strain

It is also recommended to monitor your blood pressure and consult a doctor if necessary.
