The situation in Kupiansk, Kharkiv region, is critical. Russian troops are very close along the entire front line near the city, which regularly suffers from shelling by the invaders using various types of weapons, states the head of the Kupiansk City Military Administration, Andrii Besedin, on the air of the Espreso TV channel.
"The situation is currently very difficult and critical. This concerns the front line, security situation, social and critical infrastructure. In addition to security issues, weather conditions are also causing problems. Our utility services are working 24/7 to save apartment buildings, as many residents are absent. There is freezing of systems inside the buildings," Besedin stated.
According to him, the enemy constantly shells the city using all types of weapons.
"The enemy is very close along the entire front line, both from the north and the south. They are constantly attempting to advance and are using UAVs. There are ongoing strikes that, unfortunately, control logistical routes and complicate the community’s livelihood," added the head of the City Military Administration.
Battles for Kupiansk
According to the General Staff, since the beginning of the day, Russian forces have launched 13 attacks in the Kupiansk direction near Petropavlivka, Pishchane, Zahryzove, and Lozova.
Earlier, at the end of last year, reports emerged online suggesting that a group of Russian soldiers had possibly broken through to Kupiansk. However, Ukrainian defenders managed to repel the attack.
Later, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Anatolii Barhylevych, clarified that there is currently no threat to Kupiansk.
Recently, Russian forces attempted to cross the Oskil River in the Kharkiv region. The Defense Forces inflicted fire damage on the enemy, and the enemy was eliminated.
