Shocking revelation: This item dirtier than toilet seats, experts warn
According to experts, mobile phones, carpets, and kitchen sponges can be dirtier than your toilet. But there is one item you don't think is dirty, reports Express.
The dirtiest item
Bathrooms, especially toilet seats, are often considered some of the dirtiest places in our homes.
However, an expert has warned that your handbag could be dirtier than a toilet seat, even containing fecal bacteria.
From bustling train platforms to restaurant tables and even restroom floors, handbags are set down almost everywhere. Experts have labeled handbags as one of the worst places for microbes, and they can harbor harmful bacteria.
"Handbags are surprisingly one of the biggest culprits when it comes to spreading bacteria around your home. They are often placed on unclean floors and then chucked on the kitchen side, or on your bed when you get home. Believe it or not, most handbags are often dirtier than your toilet seat, with studies revealing the presence of harmful bacteria like E. Coli and even faecal matters," explained expert Terry Fisher.
While toilets, kitchen countertops, and other notorious dirty spots are regularly cleaned during household chores, items like handbags are much less frequently subjected to thorough cleaning.
"I would suggest cleaning handbags more often. Or using anti-bac on hands and surfaces regularly. And of course, try not to put your handbags on any clean surfaces after you’ve been out for the day," Terry concluded.
