The ship Captain Leonidas has left the Pivdennyi port with a record cargo volume. This is the largest vessel to enter Ukrainian ports since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, according to the Minister of Community Development, Territories, and Infrastructure of Ukraine, Alexander Kubrakov,.

The ship Captain Leonidas, flying the Panamanian flag, departed from the port with a record 195.7 thousand tons of Ukrainian products. The length of this vessel is 300 meters, width - 50 meters, and deadweight - over 203 thousand tons.

As of April 6, over 36 million tons of cargo have been transported through the Ukrainian export corridor. According to Kubrakov, this exceeds the indicators of the "grain initiative" for the year of its existence.

He noted that 1,286 vessels have already passed through the Ukrainian corridor, exporting 25 million tons of agricultural products to countries in Asia, Africa, and Europe. Currently, 135 vessels are awaiting entry to the ports of Odesa, Chornomorsk, and Pivdennyi, intending to export 4 million tons of cargo.

Ukrainian corridor

After Russia withdrew from the "grain agreement" in July of last year, a special maritime corridor was established, specifically to protect the grain arriving from the ports. According to the Navy, the corridor's operation reached its full capacity prior to Russia's full-scale invasion.

According to the NBU, the cessation of the "grain corridor" in July 2023 will be fully compensated by food deliveries through a new maritime route, which was opened in August.
