Shelling of Kostiantynivka: How many civilians have died
The police have stated that as a result of yesterday's shelling in Kostiantynivka, 16 people have died. One victim has not yet been identified, according to the Chief of the Communications Department of the Donetsk Region Police, Oleksandra Havrylko.
"According to official information, we have 16 bodies of deceased individuals and 33 injured. Initially, there was information about 17 fatalities. However, upon conducting a visual examination of the remains, we determined that they belong to 16 individuals," she stated.
The spokesperson mentioned that almost all of the victims of the shelling have been identified, relatives of the deceased have been located and DNA data has been collected.
"As of this morning, there is one individual remaining - the body of a man whose relatives have not come forward. We have obtained a DNA profile, and we urge all residents of Kostiantynivkawhose relatives or acquaintances were there to contact the police for identification," emphasized Havrylko.
According to the spokesperson, an examination of the type of weaponry used by the occupiers is ongoing. However, she emphasized that artillery has been ruled out.
Cynical strike on Kostiantynivka
On September 6th, during daylight hours, Russian occupiers struck the city of Kostiantynivka in Donetsk Oblast. The occupiers targeted the central market, where many civilians were present at the time.
As a result of the terrorist attack, 16 individuals lost their lives, and dozens were injured.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, and representatives of the EU have responded to the shelling of Kostiantynivka, condemning the actions of Russian aggressors.
