Shelling of Kharkiv: Russian forces used Grom-E1 rocket-bomb, consequences clarified
On the evening of November 9, Russian forces used a hybrid of a missile and an aerial bomb, the Grom-E1, for an attack on Kharkiv. The strike hit an open area, and after the explosion, debris from the munitions caused damage to residential buildings, reports Dmitry Chubenko, a spokesperson for the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
According to the Regional Prosecutor's Office spokesperson, the enemy launched an airstrike on the Slobidskyi district of Kharkiv at 10:17 p.m. Kyiv time on Saturday.
"The strike hit an open area. As a result of the explosion and the scattering of debris from the munitions, the facades of several high-rise residential buildings were damaged, and dozens of windows were shattered," he informed.
A woman sought medical attention due to a severe stress reaction caused by the Russian bombardment.
The Regional Prosecutor's Office reported that the Russian forces likely used the Grom-E1 aerial munitions for the strike on Kharkiv.
"This munition is more powerful than the FAB (air bomb with a high-explosive warhead) with the UMPC (gliding and correction module) and has a larger charge of detonating substance. In fact, this is another war crime," Chubenko noted.
He also added that a criminal case had been opened in connection with the enemy shelling for violations of the laws and customs of war.
Additionally, the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office released a video showing the aftermath of the Russian airstrike on Kharkiv on the evening of November 9.
Russian shelling of Kharkiv with Grom-E1 rocket-bombs
Earlier, it was reported that explosions were heard in Kharkiv the previous evening during an air raid alert due to the threat of enemy airstrikes.
Local authorities confirmed a strike in the Slobidsky district of the city, specifically near a high-rise building. It was later reported that one person was injured due to a severe stress reaction.
On the night of November 9, another explosion occurred in Kharkiv as a result of an enemy airstrike. The strike hit the intersection of two city districts, damaging the road surface and civilian infrastructure.
It was later revealed that for the shelling of Kharkiv, the enemy used the Grom-E1 air-launched munition. As a result of the strike, buildings including a hotel, a hypermarket, and other civilian structures were damaged.
Previously, on the night of October 20, the Russian army once again struck Kharkiv with a hybrid rocket bomb. The shelling caused damage to houses and vehicles.
