France condemns Russian attack on Chernihiv on August 19 as cowardice, cynicism
France strongly condemns the Russian strikes on the center of Chernihiv on August 19, according to the Press Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France.
"According to international law, deliberate strikes on civilian objects are a war crime. This is yet another illustration of Russia's cowardice and cynicism," the statement says.
Furthermore, the department emphasized that France will continue to support Ukraine as long as necessary and will continue to back Ukrainian and international courts to ensure that these crimes do not go unpunished.
"France will continue to condemn Russia's actions and its ongoing aggressive war against Ukraine," the statement concludes.
Rocket strike on Chernihiv
On August 19, during an air raid alert in Chernihiv, powerful explosions were heard. Later, authorities confirmed that occupiers, most likely ballistic missiles, had struck the city center. Many people were in the area at the time of the attack.
As a result of the attack, the dramatic theater, the square, the courthouse, the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration building, shops, and other public facilities were damaged.
