Russia attacked Ukraine overnight on September 18 with 93 attack drones of various types. The Defense Forces shot down or suppressed 72 enemy targets, while hits were recorded at 13 locations, according to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Overnight attack

The enemy attack began on the evening of September 17 and continued overnight. In total, the enemy used 93 attack UAVs, including Shaheds, 46 of them jet-powered, Gerbera drones and Parodiya decoy drones. Russia also launched Banderol and Dan-T missiles.

The drones were launched from several areas, including Russia's Oryol and Rostov regions, the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk region, the area of Hvardiiske in temporarily occupied Crimea, and the waters of the Sea of Azov.

What was shot down

The air attack was repelled by aircraft, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, as well as mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

As of 8:00 a.m., air defenses had destroyed or suppressed 69 enemy UAVs of various types. In addition, three Banderol/Dan-T missiles were hit. Thus, the total number of downed and suppressed targets reached 72.

Consequences of the attack

Hits by air attack weapons were recorded at 13 locations. Falling debris from downed targets was also reported at three locations.

At the same time, some of the enemy weapons failed to reach their intended targets. Information about them is being clarified.

At the time of publication, the attack was still ongoing, with enemy drones remaining in Ukrainian airspace. The Defense Forces urged residents to follow safety rules.

Earlier, it was reported that a nighttime attack by Russian forces on Konotop in Sumy region damaged social and critical infrastructure facilities. A kindergarten, School No. 11, medical facilities, transport infrastructure and the railway were damaged in the city, along with numerous private homes. The strikes also caused disruptions to gas and electricity supplies in Konotop.
