Shahed attack on Ukraine: Up to 10 Russian drones downed near Kyiv
On the outskirts of Kyiv last night, August 26, Ukrainian defenders shot down up to ten Russian Shahed strike drones while repelling an attack, according to the head of Kyiv's City Military Administration (KCMA), Serhii Popko.
The official said that thanks to the work of air defense, there were no casualties or destruction in Kyiv due to the current Shahed attack.
"According to preliminary information, these loitering munitions were launched by Russian forces from the Kursk region. The drones flew over the Sumy and Chernihiv regions and approached Kyiv from the east and northeast directions. Air defense forces and means destroyed up to ten of them on the city's outskirts," he said.
The head of KCMA added that information about the type and number of enemy targets shot down will be provided later in a report from the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"As of now, there is no destruction or casualties in Kyiv. I urge you once again not to ignore air raid alerts. Take care of your safety," the official added.
