Explosions were heard in the Kyiv area on the night of December 24. Before that, air raid alerts were declared in the capital due to the detection of an enemy drone moving towards the city, reports RBC-Ukraine correspondent.

The air raid siren signaling a threat of an enemy aerial attack sounded in Kyiv around 03:40 Kyiv time.

Following this, the Kyiv City Military Administration urged residents to head to shelters via Telegram.

Additionally, the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported the detection of an enemy drone moving towards the capital from the northern direction.

Before this, the military also warned of a threat from Shahed drones in the Kyiv region.

Meanwhile, explosions were heard in Kyiv around 04:05 Kyiv time.

It was also reported that air defense systems were active in the Kyiv region due to enemy drones.

"Drone has been detected in the airspace. Air defense forces are engaging the targets. Stay in shelters until the end of the air raid alert. Take care of your safety," the Kyiv Regional Military Administration (KRMA) stated.

Additionally, residents of the region were urged to adhere to information silence rules.

Shahed attack

On the evening of December 23, several groups of Russian kamikaze drones were launched toward Ukraine during another aerial attack.

Air raid alerts were declared in several regions. As of now, enemy strike drones have been detected over the left bank of Ukraine, as well as over parts of regions on the right bank of the Dnieper River.
