Hungary and Slovakia will face serious consequences if they continue to buy Russian oil, US Republican Senator Lindsey Graham reports.

Graham noted that he supports US President Donald Trump’s demand that European partners stop purchasing Russian oil.

A US Senator recalled that most EU countries have already significantly reduced imports of oil and gas from Russia, but the situation remains problematic with Hungary and Slovakia.

“When it comes to buying Russian oil, it is now virtually down to Hungary and Slovakia. I hope and expect them to step up to the plate soon to help us end this bloodbath. If not, consequences should and will follow,” Graham emphasized.

Trump’s demands

Earlier, Western media, citing their own sources, reported that US President Donald Trump demanded that Europe completely stop importing Russian oil and gas.

Later, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the American leader is very dissatisfied that some European countries continue to buy oil from Russia, referring specifically to Hungary and Slovakia.

Meanwhile, the EU recently postponed the announcement of its 19th sanctions package against Russia, which is linked to Trump’s pressure on Slovakia and Hungary to abandon Russian energy.

Media outlets also note that Trump could halt Russian energy imports to the EU by personally calling the Prime Ministers of Slovakia and Hungary - Robert Fico and Viktor Orbán.
