Security Service's drones targeted Russia's Ust-Luga port - Sources confirm
On January 4, the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) attacked Russia's largest commercial port, Ust-Luga, in the Leningrad region. Long-range drones were used for this purpose. RBC-Ukraine's sources in the SSU report.
According to the sources, on January 4, SSU drones covered a distance of more than 900 kilometers, nearly reaching St. Petersburg, and successfully attacked the Ust-Luga commercial port.
In a video provided by the sources, one of the drones can be seen hitting tanks containing gas condensate. As a result, one tank suffered significant damage, while three neighboring tanks were damaged by shrapnel from the explosion.
Experts believe repairs will take at least a month, provided the necessary materials are available. This attack caused disruptions to the terminal's operations.
"Ust-Luga terminal is a major logistics hub in the Baltic Sea. Through this port, Russia sells oil and gas using a 'shadow fleet.' The SSU's drone sanctions reduce the flow of foreign currency, which is crucial for waging war. The 'cotton season' of 2025 is officially open!" an SSU source told RBC-Ukraine.
Attack on Ust-Luga port
As a reminder, the Russians complained about an attack on the Ust-Luga port on January 4.
Local authorities claimed that all drones were allegedly shot down and that there was "no damage" from the attack.
Later, the attack was confirmed by the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, Andriy Kovalenko. According to him, this port serves as a logistics hub for bypassing Western sanctions.
