Security Service of Ukraine reveals exclusive footage of Zmiinyi island liberation operation

Two years ago, Ukrainian defenders liberated Zmiinyi (Snake) island in the Black Sea. The Security Service of Ukraine has showcased unique footage of the special operation.
In June 2022, special forces from the Special Operations Center "A" of the Security Service of Ukraine, together with combat comrades from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Ukraine, conducted a unique and highly important operation.
The special operation consisted of several stages and had strategic significance, as it marked the gradual expulsion of the enemy from the Black Sea.
"The operation to liberate Snake Island serves as an example of boundless bravery and professionalism of our Ukrainian Security and Defense Forces. We remember the Heroes of Ukraine who gave their lives in this battle," noted the SSU.
Liberation of Zmiinyi island
On June 30, 2022, Russian occupiers fled from Snake Island in the Black Sea. This allowed Ukraine to prevent Russia from accessing the coast of Odesa Oblast and resume sea exports.
Earlier, the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) reported that the operation to liberate Snake Island proceeded in three stages. The operation was unsuccessful on the first attempt.
