Allies have almost completed preparing security guarantees for Ukraine, with only a few details left to finalize, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with Sky News.

"First, there are positive developments, because after a long time, the security guarantees now exist on paper. They are almost ready. There are a few details that still need to be worked out. We want a clearer position from the US on the specifics. We know they support the guarantees and will participate, but we want some concrete measures," Zelenskyy said.

According to him, 26 countries have agreed to provide Ukraine with security guarantees on land, at sea, and in the air.

"The corresponding forces are already outlined in the document. We see the numbers. We are discussing the exact numbers among ourselves, but that’s ф normal dialogue. What’s very important is supporting the Ukrainian army as Ukraine requests, and I am personally fighting for that, I’ll be frank," the President added.

Zelenskyy emphasized that this represents a significant contribution to Ukraine’s security guarantees. He also noted that he has his own red lines in discussions with partners.

"The second point is presence. We are not only discussing this in detail, but we have already agreed on much of the detailed presence of our partners. I consider this a major progress. The US backstop still needs to be agreed on. The EU as part of the economic guarantees. We’ve reached an agreement, but we still want more specifics, because sometimes there are obstacles, like Hungary," he added.

He stressed that there can be no delays in the security guarantees.

"These points are very important, as well as the sanctions policy, which undoubtedly has a major impact on Russia," the President said.

Security guarantees for Ukraine

On September 4, French President Emmanuel Macron stated that the Coalition of the Willing countries had completed preparing security guarantees for Ukraine.

According to him, 26 countries are ready to send troops to Ukraine or support such a mission.

Meanwhile, commenting on a potential foreign contingent deployment, Zelenskyy noted that it would involve thousands of soldiers.

Recently, Zelenskyy reported that the basic document on security guarantees for Ukraine is essentially ready, with details still being worked out with all partners.
