During negotiations with Ukraine, issues of territory and future security guarantees will be addressed, US National Security Advisor Michael Waltz says during a briefing.

According to Waltz, in the context of negotiations to end the full-scale war, there are several fundamental principles:

  • There must be a permanent end to the war, not a temporary one;
  • There will be discussions on security guarantees and territorial issues.

"But I think the most important thing is that the President (Donald Trump, US President - ed.) has expressed his desire, his determination to end this war, to end the killings that are happening... This is not in the interest of any country. This is not in the interest of the world, and certainly not in the interest of the United States and Europe. Therefore, all these things will drive the negotiations, which will continue," said the US National Security Advisor.

The US delegation consisted of:

  • Waltz;
  • Trump's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff;
  • Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Russia, in turn, sent Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Kremlin foreign policy advisor Yuri Ushakov.

Meanwhile, the US State Department outlined the results of the negotiations with Russia in Saudi Arabia.
