Second major defeat in week: Ukrainian Forces repel Russian assault in Donetsk region
Ukrainian defenders repelled a Russian assault in the Kurakhove direction, during which the enemy used nearly 70 units of their equipment. A video of the successful defense has emerged, according to the 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade.
According to the military, during the day, the Russians used for the assault on Ukrainian positions in the Kurakhove direction:
- 10 tanks;
- 47 armored fighting vehicles (AFV) with infantry;
- 10 motorcycles;
- one buggy.
Despite such a large amount of equipment, Ukrainian defenders managed to hold back the enemy, destroying 12 AFVs, eight tanks, nine motorcycles, and a buggy. A total of 36 Russian soldiers were killed, and 32 were wounded.
Artillerymen, strike drone operators, anti-tank specialists, sappers, and infantry from the 79th Separate Tavrian Air Assault Brigade worked against the enemy.
What preceded it
On July 24, it was reported that the soldiers of the 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade repelled one of the largest assaults in the Kurakhove direction since the beginning of the full-scale war.
The Russian forces aimed to push back the Ukrainian defenders using 11 tanks, 45 armored fighting vehicles with infantry, 1 tank support fighting vehicle Terminator, and 12 motorcycles. The attack failed, resulting in significant losses for Russia.
