Scientists determine maximum human lifespan
Scientists have determined the maximum human lifespan. The study involved people who lived long lives by following a healthy lifestyle.
The exact maximum lifespan is discussed by Good.
What is the maximum human lifespan
While stories of people living beyond 100 years continue to capture attention, scientists now believe they have determined the upper limit of human life without medical intervention.
This question was studied in a report by UNILAD, Tilburg University, and Erasmus University Rotterdam.
In their research, scientists analyzed the lifespans of over 75,000 people who died 30 years prior to 2017.
By examining the age of death among this large group, researchers aimed to estimate how long people could live by following a healthy lifestyle alone. They concluded that although many people can reach 90 years due to good habits, the maximum age that can be reached under ideal conditions is about 115 years.
It was also found that women live slightly longer than men, with the maximum lifespan for women reaching 115.7 years, while for men, it is 114.1 years.
Consequences of long life
Although research shows that it is unlikely for a person to live beyond 115 years, Professor Einmahl explained that there are certain cases where individuals may surpass the maximum lifespan.
The Guinness World Records recognized Frenchwoman Jeanne Louise Calment as the oldest person ever documented.
She was born on February 21, 1875, and passed away on August 4, 1997, at the age of 122 years and 164 days.
Not only was she a witness to the construction of the Eiffel Tower, but she was also born before Alexander Graham Bell patented the telephone.
Some believe that her secret to longevity lay in her lifestyle, which didn’t require heavy labor to support her family.
She married a wealthy distant cousin. Throughout her life, she swam, played tennis, and rode both a bicycle and ice skates, all of which contributed to her long years.
Calment outlived her husband, daughter, and grandson. She was healthy throughout her life and even took up fencing at the age of 85. Her diet included food rich in olive oil, which she also used for skincare.
Interestingly, despite her active lifestyle, Calment smoked until she was 115 years old and occasionally enjoyed a glass of wine.
A 101-year-old doctor shared that he always eats for longevity.
