Scholz meets with Erdogan: He wants to cooperate on Ukraine
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Among other things, they discussed Ukraine, reports Tagesschau.
After speaking with Erdogan, Scholz said that an agreement had been reached on the issue of Ukraine.
“We are both working closely with Ukraine,” the chancellor assured.
However, his further statements remained vague. According to the newspaper, this is due to the fact that Türkiye maintains good contacts with Moscow and has already allegedly acted as an intermediary in Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Scholz announced that he wants to explore how Türkiye and Germany could cooperate on this issue.
Cooperation between Türkiye and Germany
The two countries have recently resumed cooperation in several areas. This happened after several years of “cooling” relations between the countries.
In particular, at the beginning of the month, Germany approved significant arms supplies to Türkiye. And recently, Türkiye even received the green light to purchase Eurofighter jets.
