Scholz comments on Ukraine-Russia negotiations
There can be no negotiations on the war in Ukraine without Ukraine’s participation. Furthermore, EU countries must continue to support Ukraine against Russian aggression, states German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
“There is one principle that nearly everyone agrees on — nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine. This must continue. Decisions cannot be made over Ukrainians’ heads. From my perspective, it must be absolutely clear that we discuss everything needed for the future from this standpoint,” Scholz said.
Additionally, Scholz emphasized the ongoing need to support Ukraine against Russian aggression, stating that “this is very important.”
“Ukraine was attacked. It chose to be a European state, a country aligned with the European Union and its values of democracy and the rule of law. I believe that if this terrible war has revealed anything, it’s that Ukraine is a European nation with a clear orientation toward Europe, the European Union, and the goals and values we share,” the chancellor stated.
Scholz’s comments on the war in Ukraine
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has previously spoken on the war in Ukraine.
Just this September, Scholz remarked that the time had come to discuss an end to the war in Ukraine. He asserted that Germany would do everything possible to support Ukraine and that the time had come to consider how peace might be achieved as swiftly as possible.
