Scholz chuckled at remarks on Taurus for Ukraine: Chancellor faces backlash
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz chuckled after commenting on the impossibility of transferring Taurus missiles to Ukraine. The opposition criticized the chancellor, reports N-TV.
The incident occurred last weekend in Lüneburg. Scholz rejected the possibility of supplying Taurus missiles to Ukraine.
"Of course, I trust my friends. But still, I wouldn't give all the weapons to everyone," the chancellor said, laughing afterward.

The opposition party, the Christian Democratic Union, sharply criticized Scholz's laughter.
"It is absolutely disgraceful that the chancellor chuckles and laughs at the expense of Ukraine. A chuckling chancellor offends people fighting for their survival in Ukraine, as well as for our freedom," said CDU Secretary-General Karsten Linnemann.
At the same time, the politician asked Scholz if he truly takes his own words in support of Ukraine seriously.
Taurus for Ukraine
Partners have already supplied Ukraine with long-range missiles. This includes the United Kingdom, the United States, and France. Western media also report that Ukraine may soon receive ATACMS missiles with a range of up to 300 km.
However, Germany rejects the possibility of supplying Ukraine with long-range Taurus missiles. Chancellor Olaf Scholz explains this by claiming that Germany supposedly cannot control Ukraine's use of the missiles.
