At least two large fuel tanks were destroyed at an oil depot in the city of Livny, Oryol region, Russia, according to Radio Svoboda.

According to preliminary data, each of the tanks could hold up to 2,000 cubic meters of fuel. Satellite images show that both tanks were completely burned out after a massive fire broke out on December 2 as a result of drone strikes.

The region’s governor, Andrey Klichkov, confirmed that unknown drones attacked the area, causing fires at fuel and energy facilities, though he did not specify which ones.

Attacks on Oryol region

According to RBC-Ukraine, late in the evening of November 16, explosions were heard in the Russian city of Oryol. Local sources suggested a possible attack on the Oryol power plant, and shortly before that, Telegram channels reported many drones heading toward the region.

A previous attack on Oryol was recorded on November 13. Explosions occurred amid warnings of missile and drone threats. City communities reported that air defenses were active: several targets were shot down, with debris falling in a residential area. The incident was captured on video.

It is known that Oryol hosts several oil depots. In addition, there is a military base from which Russian forces launch Iranian Shahed drones at Ukraine. The facility has eight ground launch pads and a 2.8-kilometer stretch of road used for drone launches from vehicles.

The city is located approximately 150 km from Ukraine's northeastern border.
