Satellite images reveal destroyed Russian Tu-95 after Engels-2 strike

Newly released images provide a detailed look at the extent of the damage to a Russian strategic bomber that is capable of carrying Kh-101 cruise missiles, according to the investigative project Skhemy (Radio Svoboda).
A Planet Labs satellite image captured on July 19 confirms severe damage to one of Russia's Tu-95 strategic bombers at the Engels-2 military airbase in Russia's Saratov region.
The image published by Schemes shows the aircraft's tail section completely severed from the fuselage.
The extent of the damage suggests the bomber is likely no longer capable of carrying out combat missions.

Russia regularly uses Tu-95 bombers to launch Kh-101 cruise missiles during large-scale strikes against Ukraine.
On July 17, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) announced a successful strike on the Engels-2 strategic military airbase.
According to the SBU, Ukrainian long-range drones flew about 800 kilometers (500 miles) before striking Russia's strategic bombers.
