On Sunday, September 28, parliamentary elections were held in Moldova. It is now known that the party Action and Solidarity (PAS), led by President Maia Sandu, won by a significant margin.
RBC-Ukraine reports how the world is reacting to the results of Moldova’s elections.
Election results
The Central Electoral Commission processed 99.91% of protocols – about 1.5 million ballots. Five parties and blocs passed the electoral threshold.
PAS won the elections with 50.16% of the vote. In second place was the Patriotic Bloc with 24.19% of votes.

Reaction from Ukraine
Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk has already spoken with the Speaker of the Parliament of Moldova, Igor Grosu.
"I first congratulated him on the decisive victory of democratic and European forces in the parliamentary elections. This is a clear choice of the people of Moldova – for democracy, freedom, and a European future. Putin’s attempts to impose a different scenario have failed," Stefanchuk wrote.
He also invited Grosu to visit Ukraine to deepen bilateral cooperation.
Zelenskyy
As The Guardian reports, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to the elections during his speech at the Warsaw Security Forum.
"Russia failed to destabilize Moldova, and Russia’s subversive influence will not spread further into Europe," he said.
According to him, Russia failed to destabilize Moldova, despite spending huge resources to undermine its stability and corrupt anyone it could.
Global reaction
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen also congratulated Moldova’s pro-European government on its reelection.
"Moldova, you’ve done it again. No attempt to sow fear or division could break your resolve. You made your choice clear: Europe. Democracy. Freedom. Our door is open. And we will stand with you every step of the way. The future is yours," she wrote.
European Council President António Costa joined in the congratulations, noting that the election results send a clear message from the people of Moldova.
"The people of Moldova have spoken, and their message is loud and clear. They chose democracy, reforms, and a European future, despite pressure and interference from Russia. The EU stands with Moldova every step of the way," he wrote.
French President Emmanuel Macron said he was pleased with the result and that "he will of the Moldovan people has prevailed."
"Despite interference and pressure, the will of the Moldovan people has prevailed. France stands with Moldova in its pursuit of European aspirations and towards freedom and sovereignty," he said.
