Sanctions against Russia: European Commission stated when they announce the 12 package
President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen has announced the upcoming release of the 12 package of sanctions against Russia and has stated when it will be announced, states President Ursula von der Leyen.
"Next week, we will announce a new 12 package of sanctions against Russia. We will continue to impose sanctions until peace is achieved," she said.
She also noted that Europe has much to learn from Ukraine, a country that doesn't need to learn how to be Europeans because, as the President of the European Commission emphasized, Ukrainians are already Europeans.
Ukraine's accession to the EU
Last year, Ukraine was granted candidate status for EU accession. Currently, Kyiv must fulfill a series of conditions to become a full-fledged member of the bloc.
At the end of September, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that Ukraine is concluding the implementation of all recommendations from the European Commission at the governmental level.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has mentioned that Ukraine may initiate negotiations for EU accession as early as this year.
