Russians trying to break into Selydove from east but being driven out
Russian troops are trying to break through to Selydove from the east. Russia has increased the number of attacks in the area of the city, but the Ukrainian Armed Forces repel them, the National Guard of Ukraine says.
“The Russians are trying to actively storm the Pokrovsk direction and conduct frequent attacks on Selydove,” the report says.
According to the National Guard of Ukraine, Russian infantry groups are trying to infiltrate Selydove from the eastern outskirts, but the Ukrainian Armed Forces are holding the line, knocking them out, preventing them from gaining a foothold, establishing observation or firing positions.
“Russians attacked Selydove 19 times yesterday, using a significant number of infantry. Ukrainian guards eliminated 118 Russian troops while repelling these attacks,” the Ukrainian National Guard says.
Russians are actively attacking from the air
Russian invaders are also actively using aircraft in Selydove, and the outskirts of the city are regularly subjected to artillery shelling.
“In total, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 38 Russian attacks on the Pokrovsk section of the frontline on October 23. Ukrainian National Guard units destroyed 1 Russian tank, 5 armored vehicles, 9 cars, 2 ammunition depots, and 1 Russian electronic warfare station along the frontline over the past day,” the Ukrainian National Guard says.
Situation in the vicinity of Selydove
The Kurakhove and Pokrovsk directions remain the most active areas of the frontline. The Russians have concentrated near Selydove, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces have stopped Russia's attacks.
Over the past few days, the Russian army has made tactical progress in capturing the town of Selydove and its surroundings in the Donetsk region. However, the enemy's concentration in the southern direction significantly slows down the possible occupation of Pokrovsk.
