Russians to intensify forced mobilization in occupied territories in spring - NRC

Russian forces are planning to strengthen mobilization measures in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine in the spring, reports the National Resistance Center (NRC).
The Kremlin aims to offset significant losses suffered by the Russian army on the front lines through mobilization in the occupied territories of Ukraine, as well as by recruiting mercenaries and migrants.
To achieve this, the occupiers are constantly exerting psychological pressure on men of conscription age, hoping to force them into signing military service contracts under the threat of arrests, confiscation of movable and immovable property, or deportation from their hometowns to depressed regions of Russia.
Additionally, Russian military enlistment offices in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine are targeting migrants for recruitment, particularly citizens from Central Asia who came to earn money.
"Now they are being actively processed with the aim of signing a contract with the Russian Armed Forces," the National Resistance Center reports.
Mobilization in the occupied territories
The National Resistance Center (NRC) once again emphasized that the forced mobilization of Ukrainian citizens in the occupied territories violates Articles 49 and 51 of the Geneva Convention, which protects civilians during wartime.
According to these provisions, Russians are not allowed to force civilians to serve in their military.
The NRC reiterated its call for the local population in the occupied territories to avoid any contact with the occupying forces. "Document and report instances of forced recruitment into the Russian armed forces. Continue informing us about crimes committed by representatives of the occupation forces and authorities. Share sensitive information about their activities, locations, and movements," the statement added.
In early January, the Ukrainian Defense Intelligence reported that Russian occupying authorities conducted forced conscription among residents of the occupied territories in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions between October 1 and December 31, 2024. According to military intelligence, during this period, the enemy conscripted about 300 residents into the Russian army.
Earlier, the NRC reported on the disruption of the Russians' mobilization plans in the occupied territories of Ukraine.
