Russians threaten to cut off heating to Ukrainians in occupied territories without Russian passports
Residents of temporarily occupied territories in Ukraine may face a lack of heating if they do not possess a Russian passport, according to the National Resistance Center of Ukraine (NRC).
According to the NRC, Russians threaten to deny heating to those who have not renewed their contracts with heating suppliers. However, renewing the contract requires re-registering ownership of the apartment in accordance with Russian laws, as well as obtaining a Russian passport.
In essence, heating can only be obtained with a Russian document.
"In this way, the enemy once again violates international humanitarian law and forces Ukrainians to obtain a Russian passport, as it does not recognize the right of the Ukrainian nation to exist," the NRC stated.
At the end of the publication, the National Resistance Center urged reporting anyone who assists in pressuring Ukrainians and has voluntarily collaborated with the enemy.
The NRC concluded that no one would escape punishment, neither during the war nor after.
As a reminder, the so-called “authorities” launched the heating season in the temporarily occupied Luhansk on October 17. Officials reported on warm radiators in schools and hospitals.
However, the reality is quite different. None of the social institutions have functioning radiators, and the local authorities have postponed the operation of municipal heating plants for at least another three weeks.
