Situation near Kupiansk
Kupiansk and part of the border areas of Kharkiv region were seized by Russians in the first weeks of the full-scale invasion. These territories were liberated during the Ukrainian Armed Forces counteroffensive in the fall of 2022.
Currently, the invaders are still trying to recapture Kupiansk to create a "buffer zone" around the Luhansk region. Ukrainian troops are preventing the enemy from advancing.
As reported by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russian occupiers are looking for a "weakness in the defense" of Ukrainian troops near Kupiansk.
