Russians shell Zaporizhzhia region again after striking children's café, fire breaks out
The village of Malokaterynivka in the Zaporizhzhia region was struck again late on August 20 by Russian forces, just hours after an earlier attack that hit a children's café, according to the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov.
According to Fedorov, the second strike led to fires breaking out in Malokaterynivka, engulfing private homes.
"Russian forces continue to shell frontline communities in the region. They carried out artillery strikes on Malokaterynivka in the Zaporizhzhia region, resulting in fires in private homes," Fedorov wrote.
He added that, as of now, there have been no reports of casualties from this artillery attack.
Shelling of Malokaterynivka
Earlier on August 20, Russian forces had already struck the village of Malokaterynivka, directly hitting a children's café.
Initial reports indicated that three children had been injured in the attack. However, later information revealed that the number of wounded had risen to five, including four children aged 11, 14, 15, and 17, and a girl, 18 years old.
According to the National Police of Ukraine, an explosive device, the type of which is still being determined, struck near a commercial kiosk.
Later in the evening, Ivan Fedorov, the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported that a teenager, who had been seriously injured and hospitalized, had died in the hospital.
