Russian troops launched an assault in the Kursk region but lost 17 pieces of equipment after hitting mines planted by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, according to the Telegram post by the Commander of the Ground Forces, Oleksandr Pavliuk.

"In the Kursk region, during an attempt to carry out assault operations, the enemy lost 17 pieces of equipment — just due to detonating on mines," he said.

Pavliuk noted that in this sector, thanks to mine-explosive barriers professionally set up by specialists from the 12th Separate Support Regiment and engineering sapper units from other Ground Forces units, about 30% of enemy equipment was destroyed during their attempt to advance.

Ukrainian forces have been advancing in the Kursk region for several months. In recent weeks, the occupiers launched an assault in the Kursk area, attempting to reclaim lost territories. For instance, in the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian military repelled 30 attacks in the region.

According to the latest data, Russia has concentrated 37,000 soldiers in the Kursk region. The Russian authorities tasked their forces with pushing the Ukrainian troops out by mid-October, but this objective has not been achieved.

Since then, Russia has continuously attacked Ukrainian positions along this section of the front. On November 7, Russian Marines, along with North Korean soldiers, launched an assault in the Kursk region but also suffered losses.

Back in September, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russian forces were attempting to regain control of the Kursk region. However, no significant progress has been made so far.
