Russians kill woman and wound two men in Donetsk region
Civilians are being killed in the Donetsk region as a result of the militants' shelling. On Thursday, December 28, a woman was killed in Avdiivka and two men were wounded in a village in Pokrovsk district.
The information about the casualties was released by the spokesperson for the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office, Anastasia Medvedeva.
"On December 28, 2023, the Russian army attacked the village of Yelyzavetivka, Pokrovsk district, with artillery. As a result, two men aged 66 and 72 were injured. The victims were taken to the hospital for medical care," she said.
Also, during another attack on Avdiivka, one of the shells hit a multi-storey building. A 71-year-old woman was killed in her apartment as a result of the attack.
The prosecutor's office initiated criminal proceedings under the article "Violation of the laws and customs of war" (under parts 1, 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Operational situation at the front in the Donetsk region
According to the Institute for the Study of War, Ukrainian troops have recently advanced deeper into the spoil tip west of Horlivka and continue to engage in positional fighting with Russian troops.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, during the day of December 28, in the Avdiivka direction, the Defense Forces repelled 11 enemy attacks east of Novobakhmutivka and Avdiivka, as well as 10 attacks in the areas of Pervomaiske and Nevelske in Donetsk region, where the enemy, with the support of aviation, unsuccessfully tried to break through the defense of our troops.
In the Tavria direction, December was the most difficult month in 2023 due to constant Russian attacks near Maryinka and Avdiivka.
