Russians in Krasnodar protest over power and water outages
Residents of the Russian city of Krasnodar held a rally. They demanded to restore water and electricity supplies, according to Russian Telegram channels and Radio Liberty.
The protesters blocked a street in the northern part of the city.
Local authorities claimed that massive power outages in the region were caused by restrictions on electricity from other regions and the heat wave.
Russians in Krasnodar complained that in the summer, their electricity was cut off first once a week, then three times, and now there is allegedly no power for 12-15 hours a day. The mayor arrived at the rally in Krasnodar and promised to supply industrial water.
After the mayor appeared at the rally, Russian security forces began dispersing protesters and arresting them.
Backstory
Massive power outages in Russia are also taking place in other regions - in the south, in Dagestan, and in the North Caucasus. Problems with electricity are also reported in the occupied Crimea.
This started after a large-scale failure at the Rostov Nuclear Power Plant. About a million consumers were left without power.
