Russian troops shot 9 Ukrainian soldiers in the Kursk region. The soldiers had limited ammunition and were forced to surrender, DeepState reports.

Analysts, citing sources from the 1st Separate Tank Brigade, note that this happened on October 10 near the village of Zelenyi Shliakh. According to preliminary data, Ukrainian drone operators and allies went to their positions thinking that they were in the relative rear, but were already forced to make contact with the Russians and were shot back.

According to DeepState, the amount of white ammunition was limited, so Ukrainian fighters were forced to surrender.

According to the analysts, the situation in the Kursk region is not so good. The Ukrainian Defense Forces are taking stabilization measures, but it is extremely difficult to restore what has been lost.

Ukrainian ombudsman's response

Human Rights Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets emphasized that the execution of prisoners is a gross violation of the Geneva Convention relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War. He sent letters to the UN and the ICRC regarding another crime by the Russians.

“These actions must not go unpunished, and Russia must be held fully accountable. Russia is a terrorist country that violates all the rules and customs of war. The international community should not turn a blind eye to such crimes,” Lubinets added.

Executions of Ukrainian soldiers by Russians

Earlier, the Prosecutor General's Office reported that they had recorded cases of executions of 93 Ukrainian soldiers by the Russian occupiers.

Recently, it became known about the mass execution of 16 Ukrainian prisoners in the Pokrovsk sector. The Russian occupiers shot the Ukrainian defenders.

The Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Kareem Khan, said that the UN court in The Hague could take up cases of executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war. According to him, the ICC has such a mandate.
