Russian troops attack Ukraine with Shaheds overnight: Air defense in action
Last night, Russian invaders used two dozen Shahed-type kamikaze drones for another air attack on Ukraine. Ukrainian Air Defense Forces and means eliminated 17 of them, according to the commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk.
On the night of May 9, Russia launched 20 attack drones from Cape Chauda (occupied Crimea).
Combat work to repel the Russian attack was carried out in the Odesa region.
"As a result of combat operations, anti-aircraft missile units of the Air Force and mobile firing groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed 17 Russian attack UAVs in the Odesa region," the general notes.
Russian Shaheds attack on Ukraine on night of May 9
Earlier it was reported that Russian troops launched a group of attack drones towards Odesa region after midnight. The Ukrainian Air Force Command spoke about the threat of Russian attacks, in particular, for residents of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district, as well as Chornomorsk and Odesa.
Ukrainian air defense was operating in the region. Later, the Ukrainian military informed that a group of Shaheds was also moving through the Kherson region towards the Mykolaiv region.
