Russians advance to center of Velika Novosilka - Ukrainian Defense Forces respond

Russian troops have reached the Kolos stadium in Velyka Novosilka, Donetsk region. The occupiers have raised their flag there, informs Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the Khortytsia operational and tactical group of troops, during a live broadcast of the telethon.

"The Russians have been stationed there since yesterday, but let's say it's not exactly the center. They placed the flag on the boiler house behind the Kolos stadium," the spokesperson said.

He added that he could not comment on the movements of Ukrainian forces in the Velyka Novosilka area, as it could jeopardize the defense operation.

"The situation is under constant monitoring by both the Khortytsia operational and tactical group of troops and our headquarters. Everything is being done to stabilize the situation," Trehubov added.

It is worth noting that the Deep State service reported on January 26 in the evening about the Russian forces advancing in Velyka Novosilka. The map shows that the occupying troops have pushed into the center of the settlement and beyond it.

Situation in Velyka Novosilka

Heavy fighting continues in the village of Velyka Novosilka in Donetsk region. The situation has intensified over the past few days.

Earlier, the Khortytsia operational and tactical group of troops reported a threat of an operational encirclement of forces in Velyka Novosilka. However, the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade, operating in this direction, stated that as of January 26, there is no immediate threat of encirclement of their units.

The brigade also noted that despite the fighting in Velyka Novosilka, the enemy's further advance may slow down due to a geographical barrier. The Mokri Yaly River, which had previously created problems for the Ukrainian forces' supply lines, is now becoming an obstacle to the enemy's advancement.
