Russian troops storm Ukrainian positions on left bank of Kherson region
Russian troops keep trying to drive the Ukrainian group of troops from the bridgehead on the left bank of the Kherson region. But all assaults fail, according to the Ukrainian Southern Defense Forces.
"In the area of responsibility of the Southern Defense Forces, the enemy continues to stubbornly attempt to storm the positions of our units on the left bank of the Dnipro River," the statement says.
According to the Ukrainian military, 9 unsuccessful enemy assaults were recorded during the day, after which the Russian occupiers returned to their original positions with losses each time.
"The units of the Defense Forces are working to expand the bridgehead and firmly hold their positions," the Southern Defense Forces state.
Enemy tactics
The Russian occupiers continue to actively conduct aerial reconnaissance, put pressure with artillery shelling, and use attack drones against settlements and positions of Ukrainian troops in the south.
A bridgehead in Krynky
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have been conducting an operation on the left bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson Oblast for more than two months. Despite the relatively small size of the bridgehead and its continuous bombardment by Russian aircraft, the Russian occupiers have not been able to seize the initiative.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as of the morning of January 10, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to expand the bridgehead in the Kherson direction and hold back the enemy in the Donetsk region. There were 77 combat engagements over the past day.
