Russian troops have recently intensified their attacks on Kupiansk, targeting civilian infrastructure and transportation, according to a statement by the head of the Kupiansk City Military Administration, Andrii Besiedin, during a national telethon broadcast.

He noted that previously, the Russian army used FPV drones to monitor access routes to Kupiansk and central parts of the city, significantly complicating the delivery of humanitarian aid.

"Currently, these attacks have increased, and significantly so. To date, there have been more than 10 strikes specifically targeting civilian transport and infrastructure," clarified the head of the military administration.

At the same time, he added that evacuation rates have sharply declined, as local residents are reluctant to leave the city. Over a thousand people remain on the left bank of the Oskil River.

Battles for Kupiansk

A few weeks ago, reports emerged that a group of Russian soldiers had likely broken through to Kupiansk. However, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled the attack.

Just a few days ago, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Anatolii Barhylevych, assured that there is no threat to Kupiansk.

Additionally, Nazar Voloshyn, the spokesperson for the Khortytsia operational-strategic grouping of troops, stated that Ukrainian defenders managed to push the Russian forces away from Kupiansk and maintain control of the situation.
