Russian troops shell frontline thermal power plant, injuring six power engineers
Russian forces have shelled a thermal power plant (TPP) located in the frontline territory of Ukraine, injuring six workers, according to DTEK (largest private investor in the energy industry in Ukraine - ed.).
"Russia attacked a frontline TPP today. Six of our colleagues were injured. The energy workers were promptly provided with first aid and transported to the hospital," the statement said.
The equipment of the thermal power plant has been significantly damaged.
"At the moment, we are dealing with the consequences of the attack," DTEK states.
Shelling of TPPs in Ukraine
It has become a common practice for Russian troops to shell energy facilities in Ukraine, including thermal power plants. Since the beginning of this heating season, DTEK's thermal power plants have been shelled by the enemy about 40 times. For example, at the beginning of January 2024, aggressors attacked a substation and a TPP, leaving a mine and miners underground without power, and causing a fire.
On November 12, 2023, it was reported that over the three weeks before that, the Russian Federation had shelled one of DTEK Energo's TPPs three times. Occupiers also targeted a TPP on the evening of November 7. A thermal power plant in the frontline area also came under fire.
