Russian troops prepare for offensives in Siversk and Bakhmut directions, Ukraine's top commander says
The enemy continues offensive actions on the Kupiansk, Lyman, and Bakhmut axes, but Ukrainian soldiers are firmly holding defensive positions and inflicting significant losses on the Russians, according to the Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskii.
Situation near Kupiansk
"The occupiers persist in attempting to displace our units from the Kupiansk forest and capture Synkivka with the aim of blockading Kupiansk," the statement reads.
According to Syrskii, due to the actions of our defenders, the enemy is suffering significant losses. Despite this, the enemy is trying to increase efforts, primarily through the use of human resources.
Lyman region
On the Lyman front, the enemy is conducting offensive actions to displace our troops beyond the Zherebets. Intense artillery shelling is taking place.
Moreover, the enemy is relocating additional assault platoons from Russian territory to this area and preparing new assault units in base camps. They are also attempting to clear routes for advancement.
"Serebrianka Forestry continues to be one of the main concentrations of the enemy's efforts. Unsuccessful attempts are made to attack our positions with the support of armored vehicles in the directions of Dibrova, Torske, and Dibrova, Yampil," states Syrskii.
Russia prepares for an offensive on two fronts
According to the commander, preparations for the resumption of enemy offensive actions are observed on the Siversk axis. The enemy is moving units of the Storm-Z and forming assault platoons.
In the Bakhmut region, the occupiers are making every effort to reach the Siverskyi Donets-Donbas canal line. From the north of Bakhmut, the enemy is conducting assault operations towards Bohdanivka, involving units of the volunteer corps.
"They are trying to create favorable conditions for an advance on Chasiv Yar and regain lost positions in the areas of the lake cascade east of Klishchiivka and Kurdiumivka, involving airborne troops and motorized infantry units from the northern fleet," says Syrskii.
Ukrainian soldiers hold back the Russians
General Syrskii states that despite the widespread enemy offensive actions, Ukrainian soldiers are holding defensive lines firmly on all fronts and inflicting significant losses on the enemy.
All necessary decisions are made by Ukrainian commanders promptly, aiming for an effective impact on the enemy's live force and preserving the lives of Ukrainian soldiers.
Frontline situation
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported today that there were 73 combat clashes within a day. Defense forces repelled several attacks on the Lyman axis and near Avdiivka in Donetsk.
Ukrainian forces are also holding back the Russians in the east and preparing a decisive response. According to the command, Russia will not like the outcome. Details about the situation on the front and whether Russia will dare to advance on Kharkiv or Chernihiv are covered in RBC-Ukraine overview.
