Russian troops intensify activity on Kharkiv front, deploy aviation
Since the beginning of the day, June 17, 52 combat engagements were registered on the frontline. Russia became more active in the Kharkiv sector, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Currently, Russia is most active in the Pokrovsk sector. Russians have also become more active in the Kharkiv sector.
Sectors
In the Kharkiv sector, 4 combat engagements continue in the area of Vovchansk. The situation is dynamic. Russia is trying to push the Ukrainian Defense Forces back with the support of aviation.
In the Kupiansk sector, Ukrainian troops repelled 4 attacks, and another one is underway. Fighting took place near Pishchane, Hrekivka, and Makiivka. Russia is suffering losses, the data is being clarified.
In the Siversk sector, Russians tried to break through the defense in the areas of Ivanodarivka and Rozdolivka, where fighting is currently taking place. The Russian attack near the village of Vyimka was repelled.
In the Pokrovsk sector, the intensity of attacks is not decreasing. The Russians are attacking in the areas of Novooleksandrivka and Yevhenivka, where combat is currently ongoing in 8 locations. In total, 20 attacks have taken place in this sector today.
In the Kurakhove sector, a total of 5 firefights were registered. A firefight is currently ongoing near Krasnohorivka.
In the Vremivka sector, Russians unsuccessfully stormed Ukrainian positions near Staromaiorske.
In the Prydniprovskyi sector, Russians attacked once on the left bank of the Dnipro River but were unsuccessful.
Situation at frontline
According to Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, the Russians are currently trying to expand the geography of the fighting, as they realize that the supply of weapons and F-16 fighter jets will play in Ukraine's favor.
